Piracy in the Open Market
I've been noticing a huge increase in the bootlegging of CDs. While the majority of CDs sold out there are either R&B or Rap, it’s not uncommon to see Ricky Martin's latest, along with Victor Manuelle and Marc Anthony records.

A Night Of Rhumba In The Bronx
"Oh, ok. I was going to tell you about a party you might be interested in checking out. Gungie’s Club Rhumba is opening tonight. Wanna go?"

I Love The Night Life
I am, by my own definition and admission, a night person. My fun really begins after 4:00 P.M. I love the night and all it has to offer. It's no surprise that in my life, night and music go hand in hand and that a nightclub represents the knot that ties these two elements.

Millie P. The Untold Story
The rumors had started much in the same way they started with La Lupe. I was hurt. I was upset. When it hit the newspapers in Miami, I went to Tito.

A Night at the Copa with Andy and Bobby
The night of July 28, 2000 was a salsero’s dream-come-true at the Copa. Andy Montañez and sons alternated with Bobby Valentin and his orchestra from Puerto Rico, featuring Elliot Cintron, Edgardo Morales, William Thompson, Jr. aka K-chiro, Charlie Sepulveda, and Jose Lugo. Hector Ivan, Johnny Vazquez, Frankie Hernandez, and Luigi Texidor were the vocalists. And the best part of all was that admission was free before 10 pm.

Salsa Please! With, or Without MSG?
After witnessing this New York Salsa Festival, it is time to admit that maybe, just maybe, this type of concert, featuring the stars of yesteryears is old. Figuratively and literally, and as much as I hate to admit it, today's fan of tropical music is more driven to see, as it was the case here, Son By Four than Puente and Palmieri.

Francisco "Kako" Bastar's Blood Runs Through El Gran Combo
As a professional, the son of the renowned percussionist Francisco "Kako" Bastar has been on the scene for a little bit over two decades. Serving as an accomplished studio musician, Richie has recorded in some of the best selling productions by some of today's most celebrated artists and producers in tropical music.
