Salsa Mondays @ Hush
by
Nestor Louis
On
top of the smooth, evenly leveled, wooden dance floor of Club Hush, all the
hardcore Salseros that hang in NYC, came together on January 22nd
to celebrate Henry Knowles birthday.
Writer/Publisher, Alfredo Alvarado, Dancer/Choreographer, Maria Torres, El
Diario/La Prensa Entertainment Editor, Juan A. Moreno-Velázquez, Salsera DJ,
Elvira, CEO of MamboCity Records, Bobby Marin, percussionists, Bobby Allende and
Marc Quiñonez, along with some of New York City’s most notable salsa
socialites, were at hand honoring the world acclaimed DJ. The immense birthday
bash celebration at Hush Nightclub also served as the inauguration of the
club’s Monday night all salsa format. “Salsa Monday Nights at Hush
have received an excellent response by Salseros and Salsa dancers
alike. The cozy atmosphere, combined with music that is guaranteed to make you
dance, will make Hush the newest after-work spot for Salsa fans from all
walks of life”, commented Izzy Rodriguez, who along with Henry Knowles, hosts Salsa
Mondays at Hush.
Located
on 17 West 19th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues, in New York
City, Salsa Mondays at Hush, offers a free hot buffet and free dance
lessons from 6pm to 7:30pm with Frankie Martinez and Brenda Byrd. Different
bands are also featured, making Salsa Mondays at Hush the haven, the
refuge, the sanctuary for Salseros facing the tough workweek that’s
ahead. Hush is the quiet before storm.
